Litchi Thorns and Flowers
We had a storm blow through last night that did a little wind damage. The flowers opened sometime this morning. They are our first Litchi flowers.

Reminds me of some of the weeds I had to pull as a kid.

I agree.
Remember the Alien/s series with Sigourney Weaver? Litchi looks like something I would expect to grow on the Aliens home planet. |

Is that a megabloom in the third picture? It looks like an extra-large fruit is on the way.

The same plants after the storm. The third picture is what happened in our newest garden. The tomato is the only Yellow Pear plant we planted. I got it as a transplant in town. I'm growing it to compare to the other yellow pear-shaped tomatoes I'm growing, and to cross with a Porter's Select.

They're trying to survive. These flowers opened up this morning. This is 8 days after the hailstorm. In the third picture, I held the camera a little low. About an inch above is where the high winds and hail broke the plant off. Before the storm that plant was 30+" tall. Now, it's only 14" tall, but it is trying to grow.

I've read the word "Megabloom" many times. I'm guessing that means a cluster of blooms. Would this picture be a Megabloom?
