Site Changes?
Got bad with storms here today and had to unplug and storms have just now passed and I am coming back online.
I know where my server is they still having storms so I don't have much power, but when I logged on, saw a bunch of different stuff for a few minutes and forums still don't look the way they did earlier today. Is the site being worked on or has it changed or am I having problems from the storms? Earlier always had big sections that went across that had names of members on line and than section of birthdays and now this is what it looks like for me and yet there are over 100 folks on the site it says. When I first came on, down left side it was saying for the threads where I had posted like how many posts I had in them and than it all disappeared and the individual thread titles look normal now. |

I've been here several times today, as I usually am every day, and no changes at all, so I think it's the storms that did it, power surges, server problems, whatever, Carolyn

Starlight, which operating system are you using?
I had a random change happen to this computer and all the colors here were weird. It turned out to be a change windows 7 had in the resolution. Just right click on the desktop, choose "Personalization" and scroll down a little and see if the settings have changed to "High Resolution" if so, change it and everything should look normal again. |

I have Windows XP think it like 2002. Real dinosaur system here. I not sure what the desktop is, but I went to my main wallpaper screen and right clicked and no personalization word just properties and saw a tab for desktop there, but it just shows my wallpaper background. |

Carolyn, when mine slipped into high contrast mode - your name showed up as red like Mischka's.

Very cool Starlight. Those changes just happen sometimes. One day all my desktop shortcuts were all on one side. I put Jan's shortcuts on the left side and mine on the right. I think Windows has a mind of its own sometimes.

I was with WIN XP but three things allowed me to get out of it. First, the fact that it was being phased out. Second, the article in Consumer's Report that was not favorable for WIN 8 Third, my own computer man and friend, who said with your new Dell I want to switch you to WIN 7 Home Premium, and he did and it's worked out just fine. And in the ads that come in the Sunday paper I see that many places are now offering WIN 7 Home, and/or WIN 7 Professional Wayne maintains several 100's of computers at a local K thru 12 school and is always being send freebie software and whatever to trial, and if you could see my desktop with everything he's loaded on it, well, it's great. Even have Team Viewer so he can control my computer from his home and we've used it a few times. Normally he hops on his red motorcycle and zooms up here in about 15 min. No, he is NOT a young man, he just likes motorcycles, and so does the man who maintains my Monitor , a computer controlled, kero vented to the outside who comes every Fall to check it out. Now that I think of it he also has red motorcycle as well and he's not young either and his wife rides behind him and we talk while he works. Carolyn

The version I have on this computer is called Windows 7 Ultimate. When I went to college back in the late 1990s, I had to write a paper about what I thought Windows 98 was going to be like, lol
Our other computer has Windows 8.1 on it. I'm not a big fan of it-so I loaned it out to my brother. |

Yes, all my old Windows XP computers have been wiped and converted to either Linux Mint, Ubuntu or Xubuntu. They continue to work great for web surfing and word processing. I think I have too many old computers around, but I can't make myself get rid of them as long as they keep ticking!
