Help with leaves on tomato plant.
Hi everyone,
I have had my tomato plants outside day and night for about 2 weeks now. I have been bringing them into the garage whenever there is severe storms or cold weather. Today I noticed black on the leaves. So far this has only affected my Rebel Yell plant. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope the pictures work. This is my first time trying to do this. Thanks, Jean IMG_0608 (1024x768).jpg IMG_0607 (1024x768).jpg |

I have studied this problem and the symptoms tend to point to sun scald of the older leaves.
It appears that the newer leaves do not have this issue which makes sense since they have appeared after the initial hardening off process. If this is indeed the case which I believe it is then the plant is in no danger.

I found a photo of severe sun scald. Notice the similarities. The leaves shown in this photo are, of course much worse than what your experiencing.

I would say that either Julia is correct or these are the early symptoms of nutrient deficiency either real or induced, which for mobile nutrients would show on older growth first. Hard to say which Jean without more info.

Thanks Julia. Hopefully this is what you described.
@ Ray. I potted these up with worm castings in the mix and have been watering with Neptunes fish and seaweed once a week. |

Thanks. Good to know the plant will grow out of it. It is one I will be giving to a family member.

I have had that in years past, and just let it go or removed the leaves. Either way, the plants did fine.
