Pink Bumblebee I Traded
I sent Pink Bumblebee seeds out to two people in trades. I don't remember who I sent them to. I had to delete a lot of PMs to make room for new ones.
Anyway, they are not Pink Bumblebee seeds. One of the two plants is growing a large ruffled looking beefsteak size tomato. I don't know if the package is mislabeled or if they are a cross? |

Maybe it is the Z tomato that you were trying to grow.

Hey all, I think I may have gotten some of that pink bumblebee mislabeled seed as well. I was expecting a cherry tomato, and on at least two of the plants I grew, are a lobed beefsteak. I would have to chase down the other plants at my brother's, but he didn't keep track well of what was planted where. But for two plants out of two I am relatively sure of, they are not what I expected.
I got the seed this past winter via sase or the bean/pea swap. I received so many seeds from a few requests, it was hard to pick what to try, and I lost track of what added throw-ins came from which source. I thought I must have screwed up my seedling maps when the flowers were just too large to be a cherry. With a ripe one finally, I was just now googling for pics...when I added in -cherry to the search term, this thread came up from last year. I'll try to find the packet. Seems to me it was a memorable little white or cream packet with a fancy font printed on it. The green tomato on the left is probably a sungold from the next cage in my cherry row. |

That is what mine looked like too. I do not remember where I got the seeds from, but it was a swap. I saved seeds and this year, they grew a yellow/gold colored tomato. It is an unstable cross of something.
JRinPA, here's a couple more links describing my experience with this one. http://www.tomatoville.com/showthrea...ght=Star+Cross http://www.tomatoville.com/showthread.php?t=41531 Last edited by AlittleSalt; July 16, 2016 at 12:26 AM. |

It's a nice looking tomato whatever it is. : )
Edited to add, I got Pink and Purple Bumblebee seeds from swap and they came true. Mine had little pink tag in package. Last edited by Starlight; July 16, 2016 at 01:49 PM. |

B.O.L.O.
Found the pack. Looks like 4 left of what I would call regular size seeds, and 1 tiny seed. Pack is wax paper. I'm sure I'll get a head shake from worth for the rust.

If it tastes good, it worked out fine. I put a double crw cage/oval at an elderly friends house, just outside her back door. It's close so she wouldn't have to walk 70 yd to the garden where I am florida weaving 41 reg tomatoes - big beef, brandywine, mortgage lifter, and rutgers select. She can water there by the house, so the cherry cage is doing well, and is just starting to get ripe ones. It should be good mid July to mid Sept or later. In CW pattern, I trenched sunsugar, riesenstraube, black cherry, pink bb, sungold, super sweet 100, ron's carbon copy. So, yellow red black pink yellow red black.
With the pink replaced by a big tomato, it will actually be good, because I should have put one brandywine there for her anyway. |

UPDATE
Some of the Pink BB up at my brother's came out seemingly okay. I'll probably save seeds from them.
I wonder if it was not a cross, but just a seed packing mix up? Of the remaining seeds I have in the pack, there was a mix of sizes. The one over at my mom's friend's house is throwing medium sized yellow beefsteaks. |
