Sakharnyi Pudovichok - "Sugar Pounder"

With a yellow skin, you'd think it is a solid red tomato. But I agree with Tatianna that the flesh screams pink. Here's my first two from this years early harvest. Tatianna says they run from 8 ounces to a pound. But mine have been a bit larger. We both got seed from commercial packets, but not the same one.

I found the taste to be full flavored and with great depth and a great finish. It makes it to my grow again list with no reservations.

Here's the eye candy. The one on the left weighed in at 29.2 oz's.

Nice looking tomatoes for sure. When you say full flavored, what does that taste exactly mean to you?

(p.s. can you say that name 5 five times real fast? It sure is a mouthful. : ) )

Everyone's concept of taste is different. But, we all seem to have a pretty good agreement that "Brandywine" is kinda like a standard - a rerference point. To me, Brandywine has the "Full Flavor". So, flavors that are complex, generating lots of taste sensaations. Taste that during the experience evolves thru sweet, tart, smooth, tingling, refreshing, palette cleansing, and all the other descriptions you can think of. It makes me think, "This is a true thoroughbred". Hope that helps.

P.S. No, I can't say it 5 time even slow.

Do you have any pics of them cut? So I can salivate please? Everytime I see a cut tomato photo my mouth starts to water; there should be a name for this condition.

Here's the look at the internal structure. The patterning here suggests a "heart-shaped" origin. But a lot of the smaller fruits (down around 1 pound) also suggest a beefsteak background. The taste is totally "EXCELLENT". This one should be on everyone's must grow list.

I did offer it this just passed seed offer. It's not on my growlist because I have too many others that I comitted to grow. PM me if you want some seeds Peebee. Folks, this is not a general offer.
I expect I'll put up another seed for SASE offer in January. I have some very unusual stuff!

Thanks, Sharon. It'll be a while longer before I can put together a seed offer. I have more than two dozen varieties in various stages of fermentation/drying. I grew 86 varieties this year. You can see that there is a lot more to come from the garden before a list can be completed.

That one grew well for me here. I also liked Sakharnyi Zheltyi (sugary Yellow) I got from Casey's. It is also an aggressive grower and cranks out lots of fruits, just what us short-seasoners need.
