Morning Harvest
Walked around the garden this morning with my coffee and picked these
morning harvest.jpg Three medium sized ones in top to bottom are Limbaugh's, big one on the right is Carbon. Could have used another day on the vine, but since I'm going away for a couple days, left nothing to chance. A bird in the hand... carbon 630g.jpg It weighed 630 grams, 22.5 oz, first big one of the season. A couple of days ago, had these for a salad. Sakharni Pudovichok. Perfectly round and equal size. 2x SP.jpg Have a nice day everyone. |

Nice harvest. Good size Carbon. One of my favorite.
How is the taste of Sakharni Pudovichok? Is it sweet, acid, juicy, ...? Does it set well? thanks

Coffee that walks around, that's some pretty strong coffee. Did you walk arm in arm?
That is a terrific harvest, (jealous), and some nice looking maters! |

Hi Folks, thanks for the nice words.
Ella: >>> How is the taste of Sakharni Pudovichok? Wonderful, that perfect and most subtle balance of flavors that make up a perfect eating/slicing tomato. Just the right mix of meatiness/substance but still juicy enough to drip along your chin. Not acidic at all. >>> Coffee that walks around, that's some pretty strong coffee. Did you walk arm in arm? Yes, and we stopped along the way and cuddled. I probably should have drank more coffee before typing that line ;>) |

Great to see that carbon is supposed to look like that. We're growing it for the first time this year and the fruits appeared sickly to me, but apparently that's normal. Our yield on that plant has been a bit low--have you seen the same?
As for taste, carbon is delicious and exotic! It has some familiar aftertaste that I can't quite put my finger on...some kind of fruit maybe? |

Hi, I'm in Wakefield, ~12 miles north of Boston.
Here's the second carbon I picked from the same plant and truss, just a bit smaller than the first. carbon2.jpg Along with another SP and 2x PBTD. carb-PBTD-SP.jpg This is about 1/5 of what I picked this morning by weight. I've reached the happy point where I can harvest more than I can eat with DW, and switched into giveaway and sauce making mode. I gotta get me that mill. |

Naseer, I missed to reply.
I have two Carbon plants I think, both very healthy, although one is compact, the other is like a small tree. the smaller one produced these two big fruits pictured above, the biggest so far from my garden this season, both in individual size, and with others from that plant, total production by weight. So to me at least, that's not too bad Taste is similar to other blacks, I can't compare/contrast it to other "fruits" because I don't eat too many real fruits ;>) |

Nice looking harvest. All of those were favorites of mine this past season. I start pepper seeds this weekend, and tomatoes on Sept 1, and your photos made me wish it was tomato season already. Nice work!
