Never leave town in August
This is a portion of what I came back to. I harvested more in the last two days than I did all season last year. Thanks TV!

Nice haul! I wish I had the room to grow tomatillos.

Tomatillos are so much easier to grow than tomatoes but they definitely get big. Next year I'm only planting 2-3 plants. Five was way too many.

Fabulous! Can't imagine an August harvest anything like that. So, do tomatillos like the same treatment as tomatoes for the most part? May have to try one next year. They make an astounding sauce for chicken enchiladas!

Great haul! If I left town in July, I'd come home to a bunch of worm eaten, bird pecked fruit on my plants!

There are a lot of things you can do with them. I recently put some on the smoker and then used them in my Roasted Tomatillo Salsa recipe. It was really, really good. Next time I'll beware of the potential fireball that singed the front of my hair and eyelashes. |
