Default What is your favorite yellow/orange heirloom tomato?

Here in south FL our tomato season is under way. I'm not growing any yellow/orange varieties as of yet. Can you tell me your favorite yellow/orange tomato for taste and production? Any information would be helpful.

My fav in So. CA is KBX and/or Kellogg's Breakfast. Least fav is Yellow Pear. Wish I could report on Lemon Boy as it would have been new to me, but the plant I purchased succumbed to spider mites right away.

No way can I list just one favorite. And I won't list any cherries or bicolors either.

You asked about taste and production and they wouldn't be my faves if for me in my zone5 garden they didn't have great taste and production and all have been grown several times for seeds for my SSE listings and seed offers in the past.

I'm going alphabetically from Tania's Yellow/Orange ones, so I may miss some faves but much better than my having to tax my brain or find older data books/

So alphabetically, not necessarily in preference order/

Aunt Gertie's Gold
Brandywine Yellow ( Platfoot)
Earl of Edgecombe
Golden Queen
Jaune Flammee
Kellogg's Breakfast and PL variant KBX
Lillians Yellow Heirloom
Orange Minsk and the heart version
Tangella

Sure, there are many cherry sized ones I like but you didn't specify fruit size so I opted to go for larger sized ones b'c for me the best tasting OP heirloom ones are larger sized.

Limmony has a great fresh taste that I adore. Lemon Boy is pretty good too.

I am putting in my vote for Hillbilly West Virginia. Perfect for slicing and it makes the best sauce ever. Emmmm now i want spaghetti.

I am puting my vote where my mouth is
I am growing 2 yel/golds (not counting cherry type) : (1) KB and (2) Azochka .

(1) KB has been a big disappointment. So far it has 3 or 4 green fruits.

(2) Azochka .
, on the other hand is the star in my garden, with the most fruits amongst the beefsteak type.

In the second image the yellow one is AZOCHKA

Is there a difference between plain Lillian's Yellow & Lillian's Yellow Heirloom?
Has anyone grown this in So.CA? I've always wanted to try it.
Heirloomtomatoguy, is Hillbilly WV productive for you?

The range of colors vary from
Very pale yellow - Dr. Carolyn, usually classed as a white, but often produces very pale yellow fruit
pale yellow - Hughs is a classic superb pale yellow
light yellow - Manyel is a very good light yellow
bright yellow - Yoder's German Yellow is one of the best flavored tomatoes I grow
deep yellow - Brandywine Yellow, Platfoot qualifies as a very good deep yellow
light orange - Orangina is a good flavored tomato given I am the source
medium orange - Orange Strawberry is a very good flavored medium orange
deep orange - Orange Pear Shape is the best flavored orange tomato I've yet grown, sweetness to rival Sungold, candy like texture.

I love Aunt Gerties Gold but it is a very light producer. Jaune Flammée is very productive. Lemon Boy is bland to me but my sister raved about it at dinner tonight for its sweetness. Also very productive.

There are a few that keep showing up in my garden. Golden Jubilee, Azoychka, Yellow Tommy Toe, Dwarf Sweet Sue, Dwarf Summer Sunrise, Dwarf Summertime Gold (all), and, of course, Maiden's Gold.

My criteria is always taste. I can't stand tomatoes like Yellow Pear which has no flavor. It might as well be on the shelves at Walmart.

As the conductor strikes up the band, I wonder off into my garden singing, "It ain't worth a thing if it don't have that zing. Doowap, doowap, doowap, doowap, doowap, .......".

Sluurrrp!!!

Sorry, that was me taking a large bite out of another Henderson's Pink Ponderosa.

I will always love KB, but I tried Trees Bottom Yellow this year and it is a fantastic beefsteak. The fruits can get up to 16 oz.. It is meaty with a nice balanced flavor.. Slightly on the sweet side..It is a potato leaf variety with good production.

My favorite orange tomato is Queen Marb
I know, you have never heard of. Neither I until this winter. I received some seeds from a fried that grows it for many, many years (about 14-15). Like the name says, she is a real Queen with a great taste and flavor. Very good juice if you remember to add two ice roks and a basil leaf (lemon basil if possible)

Round, orange, 8-12 Oz. indet

Right now I cannot upload the picture. It is to large and I must resize it, but I will be back again when I will learn how to do it

OK, I did it. 276 means grams = 9.735614oz
