Default Tropical Storm Erika

Might land in my yard as a Category 1. I lived through Andrew, but I never saw that much devastation before or since. I'm scared!

Ginger are you going to stay put, or evacuate inland? I always said I'd prefer a hurricane to a tornado, since you have more warning. After T.S. Irene, I'm not so sure about that. Either way, stay safe.

Stay safe, Marsha! I hope this one peters out or takes the least damaging path. Keep in touch if you can, and let us know how you are doing.

Yes, I just looked at the path on NOAA - do be safe - we went through a cat 1 with Fran in 1996 - it is the only time weather really frightened me.

I bet you are.
I had to go through a couple of them on the coast.
One time I was driving home and my truck died out from all of the rain.
The only thing that saved me was a school bus stopped and picked me up.
It let me off at my second job as a gun smith and the guy owned a wrecker service and repair shop.
He had his driver go out in the storm and get my truck.
On that 10 mile stretch of road if a vehicle was left over night the next morning all of the windows and lights would be beat out of it.

Keep safe.

I am in the same boat.We already have our shutters activated, trees are trimmed, all loose materials put away, generator tested. We will be in Orlando with mutts and wife if need be.Will wait until the final forecasts arrive, then skedaddle. One circuit in house not on generator with house phone/answering machine. When it rings we have normal power, then back home again.Went thru Andrew, never again!

All of you please be very careful and keep yourselves safe. Leave if at all possible. It is just a hotel bill and some gas. Better to play it safe.

Thank you for letting us know that you are there. Let us know that you are OK when it is over.

We all are thinking of you.

Thanks for the good thoughts to everyone. We still have a few days to see what happens, but if it strengthens to high cat 2 or more, we are outa here. Andrew had 90% devastation of homestead, about 75% where I used to live, in north Perrine. Kurt, Andrew is the reason I now live in Broward.

My in laws are in Florida. They were visiting us, few day ago went back home. They are near Venice.

Here in NJ we were scared by Irene, luckily it was downgraded to a tropical storm before making landfall. Than Sandy reached us.
