Default So it begins again! :)

So it begins again... Winter/indoor gardening. We have some Tiny Tim, Extreme Bush, and Rosella Purple tomatoes. Scorpion and Jalapeno peppers, and a zucchini. Also half a flat of Radishes (not in pictures). Also will be starting some salad greens a spinach soon. Any way, going to attempt to grow all these little guys with a combination of window light from my big azz glass sliding door, and a mix of different grow lights. Updates to follow (whether you want to see them or not... Lol)

Subbed.

Those seedlings under T-5's? I'm currently using a couple of 4ft T-8's in 6500k, but looking hard at the T-5's. They are more comparable in price now and the lumen output is impressive.

T-5 4ft 6500k 5000 lumen
T-8 4ft 6500k 2750 lumen

They are T-8, 4 bulb fixtures. This is just my seed starting shelves so no need to go crazy expensive or hard to find lights T8's have served me great for 4 or 5 years now. Also the shelf above is a lot taller and the t8's have more then successfully grown salad greens and spinach. Actually going to try and grow the Tiny Tim tomatoes on the top shelf this year. But for the rest of the bunch im hoping my 600 watt HID grow light and glass slider door will be enough light to grow the rest of my plans to fruit.

T-8's are more than good, these in the pic looked very bright, thought T-5's. I'm needing to expand and they seem attractive.

Still, very interested in the grow report. I'm thinking about starting some big tomato varieties quite early to get a jump, maybe take cuttings. It's all quite new to me.

These are actually all dwarf varieties. I grow in automatic irrigated buckets on my back porch because Im away from home to much and my yard is a swamp... I've tried for 14 years to grow in my yard and half those years my whole garden drowns... :/ but anyway... I do exactly what your talking about. Come spring I will take cuttings from my indoor tomatoes and get a jump on my outdoor plants. Last year I was harvesting tomatoes end of May beginning of June. then took clippings again and started another set of tomatoes for a mid to end of year harvest. Pretty much had tomatoes non stop all year! Also when you take cuttings there is another benefit if you grow in pots, the cuttings almost always grow to a shorter bushier stature and produce a lot sooner then when started from seed.

I'm trying Tiny Tim for the first time this year. How big do you think the pot needs to be? For my normal tomatoes, I use about 5 gallon size but since these are dwarf, I was hoping to put them in smaller containers that could also be decorative on a picnic table or deck.
