No matter how you look at it they are making money hand over fist in the guise of fighting hunger.
Looks like fun. Worth |

Worth, you've got me totally confused now.
I posted links to the tomato festival in Spain, did you see those.?I went back and looked and I saw no links to any pictures you showed. As I posted in marsha's link to national Geographic Wild thread I solved the plugin problem just by turning my computer on and off so I could see that one.Came here to look at the video that was in the first post that G posted and it wouldn't load, Time for me to go back and watch some vids from Vet Ranch in Texas b'c I really enjoy them and they now load perfectly. Whatever. Carolyn

I watched the video; looks like fun but they didn't have enough tomatoes! Just that one pile?? After seeing the ones abroad, where the crowds and streets are drenched in red juice, it doesn't seem as impressive. If they are going to use store-bought tomatoes, they should try to get rid of as many as possible. But again, those won't be juicy at all...

I'd go for it. If I could guarantee I could actually stand up without my cane. I did the one in Spain eons ago and had an absolute ball! It took days to get all the tomato seeds out of my hair back then. LOL

I'm sorry to say this and hope I don't ruffle anyone's feathers but I find this whole tomato festival a huge waste of precious resources, namely the water needed to grow those tomatoes that California has been struggling to keep farms going with.
I would much prefer to attend something like this instead http://woodlandtomatofestival.com/

While the festivals do look like a lot of fun, I too can't help seeing them as a waste of resources and food. We have an organization here in the Boston area (and I'm guessing there may be similar ones in other areas) that would gladly take those seconds -- http://www.bostonareagleaners.org |

I know they are still making money but if it takes someone to make money to help someone then so be it.
If you read everything these people guarantee 1000 meals to a shelter or what ever. Even if they dont sell one ticket. For every ticket they sell they donate a meal on top of the 1000. They also have a deal set up to donate shoes and other things. Worth |
