Default Emmy

I notice this name came up as a new one in the dwarf project, but it seems that the name is already taken.

I received seeds in the recent swap and it is a medium sized orange, indet. plant with intense flavour, originally from Romania.

Has anyone grown this recently?

Linda

Yes, it is being used for a dwarf family, and will never end up as the name of a tomato. When I come up with dwarf families, I like to use parts of one of the parents names in short versions - to Emerald Giant (the mother of the cross) became Emmy. The name should never really escape the dwarf project.

I've grown the orange Emmy, obtained when in Decorah at a seed event a few years ago. Nice tomato!

Craig, Thanks for explaining .

I'm tempted to try Emmy as the sender claims that it has "outstanding" flavour!

I would call it good but not great - has the characteristic of many orange tomatoes for my palate that they are just a bit too mild for my palate. What is interesting is that it seems determinate - or semi-determinate - in growth habit, so a bit easier to control when compared to indeterminate types.

Many thanks Craig. I was going to oust Elgin Pink for Emmy, but now I think I'll save Emmy for another year.......

I've grown the orange tomato Emmy two seasons ago. In my opinion it is semi-determinate and it has an outstanding flavor and very intense.
