Ramapo Tomato Seeds?
I just ordered some Ramapo F1 Tomato seeds from an Ebay seller. In searching the web, I found that these seeds are pretty elusive. I had thought that Harris Seeds was going to carry them, but they only have Moreton; no Ramapo. I looked quite a bit and that eBay seller was the only supplier that I found other than a link for "bulk quantities." I'm surprised that for all the "hoopla" that the availability is so limited. The F1 seed is evidently being grown in Israel?
Is anyone aware of other valid sources? -GG |

Maybe rohrerseeds? I got some from Rutgers last year, but do not find them now.

http://www.rohrerseeds.com/RAMAPO-F1...T/item/9912450 And you'll find some others here https://www.google.com/search?q=rama..._AUIBigA&dpr=1 And if you look at the Tomatoville first link you'll find that I have been offering the KC whatever one parent and also find that I dehybridized Ramapo to a stable OP when the F1 was no longer available and many are on perhaps the plus 7th generation and all is well. A Tvillemember who was a commercial tomato grower in NJ was one of the first I sent seeds to, his name is Ed, and he had grown the F1 in NJ and said he could find no difference between the F1 and my OP. And getting the OP was not all that hard since the F1 was a simple cross between two parents. Your choice but if you want to try the OP just ask for it in the WANTED seed subforum and see what happens. I almost forgot but one of the links is to the NJ place where they have been selling seeds for the new Rutgers,Ramapo F1 and Moreton Hybrid, the date on it is 2015 but I bet that the offer might still be open. And yes, bulk seed production for many F1's is now done in other countries, such as Israel, China, Thailand, Morocco, etc. Carolyn

Thanks for the info. I avoided the Roher contact since I read "bulk sales" (for sellers). That doesn't mean that they might not sell to individuals, and after going to their site, it appears that they do. The 100-seed packet is quite a good deal. Maybe where my eBay seeds were from. (?)
@Carolyn -- I had Googled this quite a few times and Rorher "bulk" was the only useful link I found, other than the eBay sell who says that I got the "last one." Thanks for the info/suggestion in the "wanted." The Google link (not Rohrer) that I think you are referring to is an order form (pdf), but the info on it for the NJES is useful. -GG Last edited by Greatgardens; January 13, 2016 at 02:20 PM. |

If anyone has a problem getting Ramapo F1 seed, send me a message, I have a couple of thousand and can arrange for a few small packets to be shipped. Check with the regular sources first, but if they are not available, I'll have my son make up a few envelopes to ship.

Thanks for the link, but please try to follow the link that is shown on that page to get info and let us know your results. The link that you and others have kindly shared provides a bad link for actual info. There are some other variants of this link that are equally dead.
Some (other links) list //http: addresses. Some are supposed to be email links but not set up correctly (as best I can tell), and if you work with the link shown for an email address as shown, it produces a fatal email error (for me). Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I don't think so. I just tried this again with the same results. Quote:

I would just bookmark the link and check back at the end of this month. I am sure they will have the link working again when they are ready to sell seeds in late Jan. If that is too late, then I would take Fusion up on his kind offer or look for Dr. Male's OP version, as she suggested.
Best of Luck ! Mark Quote:

I had seen, but not gone to Rohrer before since it was listed for "bulk seed sales" on the page that folks have been quoting. And great to know that Fusion Power also has seeds available. |

I have heard so much positive reviews on Ramapo over the years. I should try it in 2017, as I am fully booked for the season ahead. I grew one Rutger, another RU bred (seeds from from SSS) last year. It was a vigorous indet with few tomatoes.

You are going to find this hard to believe but I get on average almost as much rain fall as you do. You guys get 38 inches and I get 36. Drought not included. Worth |

Maybe righr. I know it was also the case in Atl, GA. But you get 2-3' in 24 hours and then the sun comes out and the ground dries and warm up. Bu we get one inch of rain in a week ( like this past week) and it just keeps drizzling for ever.
