Tomato, Silvery Fir Tree
Tomato, Betimes Macbeth 15' (Pot)
Tomato, Yellow Cherry (Pot)
Tomato, Minibel (Pot)
Tomato, Homestead
Tomato, German Pink
Tomato, Ozark Pink
Tomato, Mamie Brown's Pink
Tomato, Stupice (for a friend but I have an extra to plant)
Pepper Sweet, King of the North
Pepper Sweet, Marconi Red
Pepper Sweet, Aji Dulce
Pepper Sweet, Syrian Three Sided Pepper
Pepper Chili, Georgia Flame
Pepper Chili, Ancho Grande
Pepper Chili, Santa Fe Grande
Pepper Chili, Beaver Dam
Pepper Chili, Jalapeño Early
Pepper Chili, Jalapeño Cross
Ground Cherry, Cape Gooseberry
Ground Cherry, Husk Tomato
Ground Cherry, Physalis heterophylla

These have not germinated yet. There is still a chance for all of them but I don't have my hopes up. I am very disappointed that none of The Dutchman came up. I bought them this winter from Baker Creek. I'm doing a germ test now. I will miss the Jimmy Nardello peppers this summer too. Last year they were our favorite. One pepper was just shy of a foot long.

Tomato, The Dutchman 16'
Pepper Sweet, Jimmy Nardello
Pepper Sweet, Corno di Toro Giallo
Pepper Chili, Hinkelhatz (I'm fairly certain these will come up. I sowed pre-germinated seeds a few days ago)

Here is a picture of them. I have so many that I have to rotate them under the lights. I have also potted up all of them that I am going to.

Nice list you have going there. Several I haven't heard of before like Summer Cider, ( love the name) Betimes Macbeth,,,, and Mamie Brown's Pink.

Your seedlings are looking good too.

Give the Dutchman some time. If I remember correctly mine took almost two weeks before they germinated. About the time I didn't think they were going to sprout they did. They were slow to germinate, but once they did, they grew fast.

Besides liking the name, I googled Summer Cider. Looks like from reviews that it is going to be a good yellow/orange tomato to grow.

I have heard Summer Cider being described as apricot. It is also know as Apple Butter and was bred by Tom Wagner if I remember correctly. Very excited to grow it this year.

BTW yellow cherry is not the variety Yellow Cherry. I received the seeds in a swap. The person said it was a micro dwarf. It was labeled as yellow cherry. Later on in the season I will post pictures of it and the fruit for everyone to see if someone knows it.

Well this morning when I was rotating the tomato and pepper seedling I dropper a tray. It was too early and I was running late for work so I didn't have much time to do much. The bigger plants I think I was able to salvage but the seedlings were pretty much a pile of dirt.

The pictures are from tonight after the fall.

So tonight I may have sowed a ton of seeds for all of the varieties that I lost/didn't come up. Hopefully they will come up fast and grow quick.

I saw two hinkelhatz germinating tonight. Here's hope for the rest. The dropped plants seem to be bouncing back as well. The other plants are really starting to take off too.

That is good to read. Just is painful to do that and think your efforts are trashed, so maybe you'll come out good all around yet.

I weeded the garlic patch today. It's looking good and growing well.

I also started working the rest of the beds for tomatoes and peppers. The strawberries doing well too. I'm seeing lots of flowers and will have strawberries before to long.

I thought I would also put up a few pictures of the many bulbs I planted last fall. I got them really late from one of the big box stores at like 90% off. Spent maybe 35 buck and got almost 300 bulbs.

We are pretty happy with them. I'm really glad they turned out so well. I bought them in December really cheap and didn't get the last of them planted until the beginning of February during a warm spell. So I wasn't sure if they would all make it. It was fun to watch them come up this spring because the right side of the tree gets more sun. The left side is shaded by the house in the morning. The right side has been about three weeks ahead of the left. It interesting to see how much faster the right side warmed up with 4-5 more hours of sun.

I spent some time in the garden today. Tilled up the new area. It's nice having a tiller to do it. The main part of the garden is raised rows lined with rock. I did that because I didn't have a tiller. I might pull up the rock this year too. The new are is in the field behind my house. It hasn't been mowed in 2 years so doubt anyone will mind. Anyway last fall I spread out leaves over the new area and today I tilled it all in. I hope I will not need to do it again.
The new area

I also found this along the back edge. It ran across the whole thing. The top edge was about 3" under the surface and bottom was about 18" deep for a lot of it. It was even longer but I cut it once it was a way from the new area. I wish I could have got more of it up but I didn't have time. It was a pain in the butt for sure.

Here is a picture of the main garden. It's from a year or two ago. The paths are much overgrown now.
