Default One Sick Puppy......

a goner for sure....... & a couple of picks of some other tomatoes coming in. I've been picking about 10-15 weekly, not a big year - but they are all loaded up now save 6-8 plants that are struggling....

"It's difficult to think of anything but pleasant thoughts when eating a homegrown tomato" - Lewis Grizzard

Sliced fresh off the vine and topped with coarsely ground sea salt in the garden has been delightful. Sometimes I will top with fresh basil and a dash of olive oil as well.

The sick (terminally ill) one is a brandywine pink that got wiped out during the heavy rain period and then never recovered. This is the first year I have tried to grow the BWP, other plants of same are doing just O.K. The fruits never matured to expectation on this plant.

Out of 30 plants, I will need to yank 3 this weekend. Possibly a few more that are looking haggard, but going to see if they can recover enough to give some production, as they do have semi-healthy looking tomatoes.

We grew pink brandywines last year and had unusually heavy rainfall during the spring. It killed a few of the plants, and the rest never recovered. They produced small and sparse tomatoes the rest of the year and died early.

PS- As happy as a homegrown ripe tomato makes some one, so does a dying plant make one sad.

Still plenty of time, but probably will be scratched off the list next year. Thanks for the reply, as results sound similar to my dilemma. I've got about 3 of those left after I yank this one.
