Default What are these things?

I never could find the answer as to what these structures are growing from the leaf rib. Nitrogen encourages them, and a good crop of fruit will follow I have discovered over the years. I use them as a gauge for feeding the plants.

That is a "Nitro Gauge". It is used to gauge for feeding the plants.

I must underfeed my plants because I have never seen them before..........

While doing some pruning, I saw one today on an old leaf branch.
It is just a new small leaf growth.

Marsha, those are tiny things at the leaf nodes next to the tiny leaflets.

I am getting those too, when the weather is good and plants thrive...
Thanks for pointing out the correlation with good crops - encouraging>!

I know from a friends past experience that suckers, and even blooms will appear from these structures if nitrogen is over applied.
