Rutgers 250
Can anyone give us a report on how their Rutgers 250 plants have done this year. Shure would like to know..

I have only gotten 2 ripe fruits so far. They are smaller than some of the other varieties with the big slicers but very tasty. I will do a side by side comparison when I get more ripe ones.

never heard of Rutgers 250 but I have four pretty healthy looking regular Rutgers with lots of green, tennis ball sized tomatoes. ten days of 90+ heat seems to have slowed them to a crawl. hopefully when the weather brakes they will start coming in

Rutgers 250 is the "resurrected Jersey tomato" which was bred by Rutgers University to be like the Jersey tomato that people remember from years ago before tomatoes were bred for better shipping and processing. It would be an ancestor to the Rutgers that is available now.
