The Golden Rule
The Golden Rule.
https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...wORxYwNtUU3Yrw I am posting this here instead of the your two cents section and I dont give a hoot. The reason for this is so the folks that aren't members here can read it if they want. The world is full of hate these days and I dont want to be a part of it we need to treat people we dont know with respect and consideration. We need to threat them the way we would want to be treated. The people that come to your land need to be treated the way you would want to be treated. Most of us have less than 100 years on this earth in the body we have. Some of us believe we go on to a better life some of us think we turn to dust and that is it. It matters not to me what a person believes it is their right to do so. No one group of people hold a claim to The Golden Rule. It transcends all religions and faiths. When you go to bed tonight try to think about the good you did not the good you could have done. It doesn't have to be nor should it be money. It should be setting an example to your brothers and sisters in the community you live in. Today I made several smile because I did something for them. This is far better than making ten people frown because I was mean. What is a lifetime compared to an eternity? Worth. |

Well said!
Thank you. I always do feel better myself when I make others just a little bit happier.

You must be watching what we are all watching. We all need to be reminded of that from time to time. This earth is for all of us to share in, like we do here at TV, not be torn apart. Thank you Worth!

But recently I have been thinking about some of my friends of another faith Islam and how much we have in common. When you put the sword down and pick up the food you will be amazed at how much can be done and learned. Hate is a product of ignorance and stupidity. Worth |

Nice. I've encountered many beautiful souls, on TV, at work, in my neighborhood.

Oh boy. I think I see where this is headed.
Golden Rule is good this is indisputable. Some groups only apply the Golden Rule to those that share their beliefs. This is not the golden rule, it has another name. |

Taking the time to cause a complete stranger to smile, or better yet, *laugh* is a gift worth giving to oneself.

Funny some seem surprised when you are kind, and then open up completely when they see you are genuine. It is a nice way to connect with strangers. |

Amen to that. Go tell an idiot they're an idiot. And Worth, thank you for posting where there is open access. I often catch a few minutes of reading here when I am outside on public computers. - Lisa |

It's funny, Worth - I stumbled on and read the same wiki page after reading your "dinner for one" post last holidays as that was food for thought.
The golden rule is a treasure that even a small child can understand. I thank my parents for teaching me this simple rule when I was small. To be honest, if there were no rules or laws except for this one rule, the world would be set right. None of the other rules matter. IMO. This is the number one rule and has to stand above everything else. The fact it is universally known across cultures makes perfect sense to me. Even the declaration of human rights by United Nations reflects the common desire of people everywhere to live in peace and freedom. Wish that it was so. |

One of my golden rules: when people want seeds that I have, send them some. Very cheap way to make someone very happy -> me.

I've always felt that people fail to understand that the effect of treating people well is that they tend to do the same to you in return. So even if a person only cares about themself and their own interests, the best way to advance those interests is to be nice to other people. It's a paradox - being selfishly unselfish.
