Default slugs

Does beer kill slugs? I read once putting beer in a saucer will attract slugs and drown them. Is this true? anybody try it?

Some people put beer in a saucer to kill slugs.
I've done it and caught a few, but prefer to drink the beer and feed the slugs sluggo.

I've done it, using cat food cans pressed into the soil a bit. It works, but cleanup/refilling can be unpleasant. I've switched to slug pellets.

Beer works. I use all the various methods early Spring when i get the garden going. Slugo, copper strips edge my young salad beds...beer in shallow containers get the early
army of slugs. Pro-active even before i see them is the best tactic as i always have a few. DE i dust around a bit.
I don't do much now being in full garden harvesting as i took care of the bulk of them a couple months ago.
This fella i caught yesterday before he dove into my afternoon deserved beverage...
(i have pics of tuna cans full of slugs after an overnight set into soil but it is a bit gross)
and un-settling when the pups beat me to the garden in the morning and eat them, (ick)
