Default Any idea what this variety could be?

This is a wrong seed from Purple Dog Creek. I doubt I mixed it up, because as far as I know, I don't even have anything that looks like this.

So could be some random cross, but I just thought I would see if it looked like anything familiar. It's fairly tasty actually, and one of the earliest this year and looks very prolific. I think it's regular leaf, have to double check that.

I was sent seeds for this variety but never grew them out so had to see what it should be

What was the source of your seeds and how many plants did you have out?

You speak of a possible cross so have you grown PDC before and are using your own saved seeds now?

Small, round, and red, often enough means a cross.

I've grown purple dog creek before, it was wonderful, and nothing like this. I have another plant from the same batch of seed, and it looks like the correct variety.

I would have to look up my seed source, I purchased them, have not saved them.

Hope not too many of them are crossed then, if that's what it is - because the real variety is one of my favorites.

OK, so what you are suggesting is if you purchased the seeds it's a seed vendor problem, and that's not unusual,it does happen, and depends on the specific vendor whether they produce their own seeds,do they subcontract out,do they buy seeds off the shelf, etc.

Oh sure, I wasn't complaining.

I was just curious what I had - if it was a mixed up seed, I might have saved some since they aren't bad.

If it's a cross, which sounds likely, I wouldn't probably be interested.
