TX Hill Country Garden 2016
Thought I would post some pictures to keep me motivated.
With a new daughter, last year's garden and this spring's have been a real challenge for me as I have been figuring out how to be a mom, as well as take care of a garden that requires water to be hauled to it. Out of the blue, my husband suggested a garden on the east side of the shop where I had been weeding. It's close to a water outlet... and... new garden! How could I resist? Assuming I can get them to post, here are some beginning shots from about a week ago. From the north looking south: From northeast corner: And from the south looking north: 20160730_075613.jpg 20160730_074113.jpg 20160730_074206.jpg Save

Okay, I got them to show up... but how do I rotate them? They look to be oriented properly when I upload them, but pop up here sideways.

Here it is today. Will see if I have better luck with the phone.
From north end and south end. 20160807_075320.jpg I'm thinking putting a little sand pit in the middle, maybe with a bean/morning glory tepee over it for the little one. Anybody done one of those? Sorry, it looks like they will be sideways again. Last edited by Langley Ranch; August 7, 2016 at 01:55 PM. |

Well, it seems to work right on my phone, and when I put them on my computer they seem to be oriented correctly. But after uploading they are turned. If I just take them landscape instead of vertically, I think that will work.

It's going to be a great garden for you. It seems that you have your beautiful helpers all lined up too.
Congrats on the little one... life will never be the same... I made a tepee over sand for my daughter when she was young and it was a big hit. I put cherry tomatoes on either side of the door. She used them as bombs and loads for the dump trucks but hated eating them. Seedlings came up every year and finally she learned to eat a few tomatoes.

Yes, they were ready to dig. The heeler, Hank, likes to help me weed, as he has an obsession for fetching. If I don't toss them back far or high enough he comes up and tries to take them out of my hand as they are pulled. Oscar the White is still a big baby, just about to turn two and still thinks anytime you squat down you must want to pet him.
I am glad to hear your been tepee was a success! The cherry tomatoes are a good idea too. She seemed to like the little fruit from Coyote this year, but that's the only tomato I could get her to eat. I'll have to think about what else she might like to have close by. Thanks MissS. |

does your barn have gutters? this may play an important factor and before installation also allows to get a rain barrel off of the roof runoff. an unadulterated high free drip can be problematic, imo.
looks like a good spot to get a break from west sun and wind. have a good time. love the dogs and hill country. |

I'm interested in the assortment of rocks.
It looks like they were hauled in from some other part of the place at one time or another. |

I transfer my pictures to the computer and use Microsoft Office Picture Manager. It came with MS Office 2003. You can resize, turn them, etc.

Plants grow better sideways, not as much gravitational pull.
