You guys aren't just cruel, you're dangerous.
pmcgrady, you might bite off a tail to get a some of the flavor and maybe a bit of the heat, but if you bite into one of these evil bio-weapons, you'll never bite one again. Fresh, mince fine to go into some queso or to stiffen some salsa. Maybe add to enchilada filling. How heat-sensitive are you? Can you eat habs raw? Or, if you're judgement proof, give to someone you really don't like.

Some ideas that we have tested and tried.
I am not a fan of the unstable reaper.
With some of the true chinese we: Dice real small and insert into salsas(never any seeds) Cut up and with cheesecloth bundles dredge into all your chili con carnes, chicken soups, stews. A little goes a long way so with the infusions start with small amounts, length of immersion time will monitor your heat level. Have a lot drying out in sun, pulverise(electric small hand held)have fun and grind some beans in same grinder brew and some of the season will show up in coffee, make your own flakes for adding into your rubs, seasoning etc. Wife will remove seeds before drying. As a warning do not touch or even attempt that innocent taste, gloves and isolated handling and immediate washing of all hands/utensils etc.that capsicum oil, powder will stop you in your tracks. Some people do infuse some dried pods in white distilled spirits for a amount of time and remove. The powder is a animal deterrent spread on fences (wild elephant control in India I have read.

kurt, CHILI! Right on. I find it difficult to get chili hot enough for me. But the heck with the bouquet garni approach. Just dump a minced pod into a batch and cook down. Get a six-pack ready.
When you're ready to handle the pods, if you have BPH, arrange ahead of time for your wife to help you pee. You absolutely DO NOT want any of the juice to transfer from your hands. Accordingly, this is bad advice: Quote:

If you haven't eaten a pepper this hot, I would say to wrap them in a disposable baby diaper and bury them at least 12' deep. Maybe that'll help rid the world of one food that can kill you. Maybe? Just be careful. |

I add them to batches of hot sauce i make how much you add is depends on how hot you like it. We also make salsa and i will put in a whole one. When i do my 6 year old little girl will sit down and eat it with me all day long however she keeps licking her lips saying Dad this is hot but she keeps on eating it. I have eaten a whole one all by itself but i will warn you that you will be curled in a ball for at least 4 to 6 hours. I did not throw up but a guy at work that thought he was tough enough to eat one threw up fire for several hours. I had to do it once. I will say there is one old cowboy from the place i used to work that ate several of these and said they were just pretty hot. There is something seriously wrong with a guy that thinks these are just a little hot. I will say he became my pepper hero that day.

dry them out and crush to dust. can add to spice blends for recipes. I've done a few that way and still have plenty left, a little goes a long waaaaay.
I also like to nibble, cutting off a slender slice, just to tempt the devil inside. hottest I've eaten in a single bite and chewed was a hab. never gone over the ledge and eaten one of the super hots. when I ate that hab, I could feel my hair grow, YEE-HAW!!!!!! however, some super hots are not hot at all. a lot depends on the weather and growing conditions. kind of like Korean beer, you never know what you are going to get... |

Okay, I gotta hear more about Korean beer.
Or is it one of those things that you just have to experience? |
