Blue Chocolate
Is anyone else growing Blue Chocolate? Does it take a long time to get ripe? I got a seedling from someone in the neighborhood and eventually planted it at a community garden plot. Whenever I go to the garden, I see fruits that are dark on top and green on the bottom. I don't know if they are taking a long time to get ripe, or if they are getting picked by passers-by! I've already picked a Syzranka and a Daniel Burson (all planted at the same time as the BC) from this garden.
None of them looked close to ripe, but if I can find a few that are at the breaker stage, I may pick them and let them ripen at home. Are they worth waiting for? (At least I'm getting tomatoes at the community garden! In the backyard, the rodents get every tomato bigger than a ping pong ball while it's still green! They especially like the dwarf varieties in containers -- so easy to reach the fruit.) |
