Here is an interesting article involving tomato flavor being lost. I guess most of the article is information most of us on Tomatoville already know. Perhaps these scientist's should have spent a little time on this forum. I do guess that their hope to bring back old fashion flavor to the market tomatoes is a positive, however I think their efforts will be futile. Thoughts? |

My bet is on breeders like Fred Hempel, Randy Gardener, Brad Gates etc to be able to create a tomato with great flavor and multiple disease resistances. Hopefully soon

I truly hope that their hard work breeding cool and better tasting market tomatoes pays off, but if I was guessing, when it does happen, it will be one of those deals where it was done by mistake or luck, not actually someone trying to do it.
