Always a disappointment when something turns out not to be what it should, but if it tastes good and looks interesting, it might just be the next great find! So how was the taste?

I'm wondering if they are something like Big Rainbow, Hillbilly, or Old German? I know I have seen a post or thread here where the tomatoes look like yours.

More importantly, how do they taste?

did you plant/have seeds for a bicolour beefsteak? Most likely a stray seed or a labelling mixup. could be any number of large bicolour beefsteaks. They look great actually.

A few years ago, Bill Jeffers gave me some seeds for Elgin Pink; the seedling I grew out had
bi-color tomatoes. Others got a dark fruit and of course, a great tasting pink as well as the
bi-color. I think that may be why you have a bi-color from Pink Elgin/Elgin Pink-just my opinion. It had been discussed on another forum at the time.

I did a quick check at Marrianna's Heirloom Seeds...
Pink Elgin is listed under Papa Vic's stash and described as a sisterline to
Wild Thyme (I think was a gwr) as well as Horton Purple and Wild Thyme Purple.

People I sent the Pink Elgin seed to, at the time, got a pink and a purple as well
as the bi-color I got.

I never grew out seed from the bi-color as it was the pink version I had wanted.

Yea, a disappointment for sure. In my experience, those might taste really good if you like sweet tomatoes, if my memory serves me. I want one :-)
