How would you use it in the garden?

I would use it for a bottom of a raised bed. I would use 2x4's to build the sides and line the entire thing with cedar fence boards. Then I would use good quality weed cloth to line it for holding the container mix I use in my raised beds. It would help to keep the weeds from below out and would also keep the RKN out of the garden mix as long as possible.

They would be similar to the garden beds my husband built for me, but far cheaper if starting out with one of those for the bottom.

I have made deer fence from pallets before. The pallet makes up the bottom 3-4' of the fence. I attach 8' 2x3 lumber vertically to make posts, then attach cheap nylon wildlife netting to those posts. I think it is the cheapest functional deer fence, especially if you have free pallets.

If you use the nylon wildlife netting, do not attach it all the way to the ground, or garden snakes will get caught in it and die. I wish I had known that before using it.

I'm just getting caught up on missed threads from the past couple days of having young grandmonsters visiting.

That looks like an idea. I wish I had known about the RKN and Fusarium before we built our raised beds. The garden beds your husband built look great!

We built them because of the problems here at the community garden I experienced when I had a bed over there. I knew I wanted an independent bed, but I also knew I wanted to have a grass and weed free garden area to walk on because bugs just happen to love me. By putting down good weed cloth and building those beds we did spend a lot more money than if we had just amended things. The fact I can't bend down on the ground anyway was another reason I wanted independent beds too. But, the fact the soil is ready immediately to plant in was a big bonus and I only filled one of those big beds when we first built them. Then I got sick and had an unused garden out there until last February when I decided I was well enough to get started again.

We only just filled the second one last February when we put more money out to build the mix up. So that one bed sat unfilled for four years and is just as good as the one I already had filled. They will last a very long time and the only weeds I get in them come from between the weed cloth and the frame of the bed on the outside section of the garden. I just pull them as I see them come up. Well. I get weeds from seeds blown in but I don't have to pull many weeds out there at all.

We used pressure treated 2x4's and fully lined in untreated cedar fence planks. Most of my garden building has been this year and it has helped me to be able to grow more with all the trellis's hubby built for me. I am very happy with my garden but I still need more beds built so I am eyeing those pallets for sure, lol. I can even see cutting them in half lengthwise to make them 2' wide and making them into garden containers for the front of the house too. I already chatted with hubby on that one, lol.

LOl, thanks. They are all silvery grey now. Hubby doesn't do anything unless it's for long term. He even used wood screws and glue to secure all the boards. He left the sides open so I can put the handles of my tools inside them. They also work great for handles when it's empty to move them around the garden area.

you can make a great outdoor herb table out of those pallets depending on the sixe outs you want to use, remove every other top horizontal slat and the pots sit in nice and snug and wont blow over. then cut 2 of them in half and use them as the legs and supports.

I just planted a set of steps to nowhere for a friend. somehow they ended up with a set of unused steps so her husband converted them into a planter. 4' wide by 7 steps attached to the side of the house going straight up to a wall with a 4x4 landing . it was great. all herbs for that one. I love to see repurposed "trash" .
