Default The Front Noid Volunteer is now Froid!

Last November I bought a potted peace lily plant from a grocery store. In December, there was a tomato plant starting to grow in the same pot. My husband cleared our front porch and he moved all the plant containers outside by the bush to place an outside Christmas tree. Since I knew I only have succulents in those pots, I didn't bother to check them until Spring is almost over. The peace lily plant died but the tomato plant grew bigger and had a lots of flowers. It was the most prolific tomatoes I've seen. It grows in cluster of 5-6 tomatoes, mid size, red, very juicy and tasty. It is indeterminate, regular leaf and can handle hot summer and severe drought. I've only water it a few times during the heat of summer here in Southern California. It is still blooming and still giving us fruits. The picture below was my 3rd harvest from it. I am hoping someone will recognize it so I can formally name it. But right now I am calling it as Froid

Reminds me of Sophie's Choice. Save seeds if you like it.

Take a pic of the slice across, not a wedge.
Sometimes you can narrow it down. SC is a good guess.

If you have the peace lily tag you can look up the grower and see
what tomatoes they offer or offered last season. A long shot.
Could have traveled in the soil from anywhere. If it was from the
grower it would have sprouted much sooner me thinks.

Looks delicious.

I agree about possibly looking up the grower, but I also agree even more that it could have been from anywhere.

I don't think it's Sophie's Choice,a variety I introduced.

The tag was the first thing I look and I remember there was no tag. It has a clear plastic wrap which has the writings when I bought the peace lily. But I will see if I can find the same or other plant from the grocery store and see. It is delicious and all gone, but there are some more flowers and green fruit on the plant. I will remember to take a picture when it is ripe and when I cut it.

I agree that is not a Sophie's Choice. SC is an early variety and more on the pink color. In addition, SC cannot tolerate heat.
