Pro Mix in Big Box Stores

Last year Walmart had it in stock and I noticed promix.com said Home Depot will carry it but I just found it at my local Lowes for $14.98

I get Pro Mix delivered by my local Agway place. There are several different kinds of Pro Mix though,so let me take a look first..

I think it's BX that comes in a 40 # bale and you have to loosen it up before you use it. Freda mixes it with 1/2 Pro Mix and 1/2 composted cow manure,which I also have delivered from Agway.

I haven't found it anywhere except Walmart and now Lowe's. This must be a homeowner type soil because it's different from the stuff you posted and cheaper. I used it last year with no problems and I'm gonna use it again this year. This is compressed and is a 4cuft bale.

Can I ask what did you pay for it? I see the cheapest price at about $40 a bale.

I get mine from Menard's. A compressed 2 cu ft bale that expands to 4 ft is $14.

Agree with Cole-Robbie. It is a cheaper version like the Menards offering. It is NOT the same pro mix BM quality you buy at the hydro store or source in bulk.

Last year I bought 5 bales at WM for $15ish for a new raised bed and was not happy when I saw what I got. Did the job for lettuce. IMHO needs a lot of fixin' and still ain't the real thing for transplants. There were about 40 bales left at end of season marked down to $5.

Wow that's quite a discount; it says soil, not potting mix so I assume it is for the garden? I might order some.

It's potting soil with worm castings and myco. I don't think the extra $10 is worth it for worm castings.

I looked on a few sites and it seems like the description is different everywhere. It's worth a try just to see if it's any better.

I think they're doing the same thing as MG, contracted locally to supply a region and the mix is different. I loved it but then again I love MG moisture control but only when I get a bag that hasn't been wet/rained on.

I tried to order the Pro-Mix from Lowe's and I can't get it here but some of you up north might be able to. I did order 2 bales of Lucky Dog from Wally World. I hope it's the good stuff and not a cheaper version.

Check at a local amish greenhouse lots of them use pro-mix bx

We have every nationally here but I have never seen them here. It must be the heat. I wish they were here because I see people posting excellent deals on all kinds of products.
