Default Whats in a name?

In the interesting category, I grow Purple Haze tomato seedlings which are from seed I get from Keith Mueller. He has a unique ability to follow genes for flavor and to select for flavor traits.

I read both links, but me thinks they better update those links to indicate that Randy G died recently, not that here recently retired. So how out of date are those two links? I didn't check that out.

Carolyn, I can assure you that Randy Gardner who bred the Mountain series of tomatoes is very much alive. I spoke with him by phone 2 weeks ago.

Carolyn, who says you couldn't have spoken to him b/c he was dead, and I'm sure you'll be as surprised, as I was when I knew him when I was in high school at the Milne School.

It seems like we have went through this before some time ago.
Or am I mistaken?

I just did Karen, and in the link noted that in post 11 you first brought it up and in post 12 I posted that the obit error was an Albany Times Union error.

I was hoping I wasn't losing my mind or something.
Just the other day this same thing happened in my personal life.

Dustdevil,

Glad he's still around, and also nice to see that he got his undergraduate and master's degrees from Virginia Tech, which was my stomping ground for 4 years. Go Hokies!

So ironic, the original topic being "what's in a name?" and now it's about Randy S. vs Randy G. We should all be thankful for our middle names. lest they bury us well in advance!

I wondered if there was a "Pink Floyd" tomato, but I couldn't find one on google. Not "Deep Purple" nor "Purple Rain" either.

Fusion, have you got a new tomato name in the works? Always interested to hear about your projects.

Does a plant that churns out 3 pounders that look like Eva Purple Ball and taste like Neves Azorean Red sound interesting? Did I mention 50 pounds of fruit from an ordinary plant? That is only 20 tomatoes folks.
