Thank you, Carolyn!
Carolyn, whenever you get around to reading this, I wanted to say thanks for the seeds you and Shawn sent last year, and post the pics I took of Helio and Samorodok.
You have a great eye and taste for unusual tomatoes - we enjoyed these. |

Samorodok
Samorodok turned out to be a tangerine orange heart; blunt variable shapes on a wispy, paler green plant.
The early fruit pictured here was very dry with just a few seeds and a bit of gel in the locules. Very dense meaty fruit, which tasted to me very mild. My mom greatly praised these at the end of season, they weren't so dry for her then, and she said also tangy and sweet. Forgot to mention, there was some blossom end rot and aphids enjoyed the plant late in the season. In a 7 gallon pot so quite restricted for a large fruited tom, it did well in the circumstance. |

Helio
Helio, RL, yellow fruited in sturdy large clusters, this beast just wants to make fruit! Definitely a candidate for saladette production. Nice quality, fairly uniform size.
This is not a 'fruity-tasting' yellow, which I usually look for and prefer. It tastes more like a red but with a very unique low note, someberry... I'm not sure if you would guess either yellow or red, if you were blindfolded in the taste test. Got a thumbs up from my taste mogul N. |

Last I heard in the other thread, someone spoke to her on the phone and she sounded fine they said. Just not coming here any more, it seems.
