Orange Slice grow out...so far so good!! 😁

This is a continuation of the Orange Slice thread with fresh updates.

The seeds I'm offering are F5 so still not 100%stable yet but they have been good!!

Pmcgrady sent me f2 seeds a few years ago from his grow out. We were hoping for PL and I was lucky to get ONE!! It grew small, bigger than golf ball blocky, delicious Orange fruit.

Saved seeds and the results were great. Larger then the year before, PL, meaty, and outstanding flavor! KBX flavor!

Will send a few seeds out to people for a PM. All I ask is updates and info. Just interested in the PL ones.

So, since I have Shannon's named after my daughter, for my son I've named this one Gregory's Golden Nugget!

How large are the plants --suitable for containers?

I love Orange Slice, and have grown the F2 too. I agree that the taste is excellent, and highly productive for me without the long wait for a ripe KBX. How fun that you got a PL. I only grow one plant per season so no jackpot as of yet. How many plants do you grow per season in your trials?

Hey guys. Sorry, I’ve been out of town.

Plants are suitable for containers. I’d say they were 5-6 feet. Very manageable. I’m still growing out so not 100% definite yet. Lol

Last year I grew 4 plants. Only the potato leaf. But they were all PL since I found that first one. Will prob only grow 3 this year since I moved and not sure about garden yet.

All I want are the PL.

Plenty of seeds available.

This year's f5's are perfect! Just what I was hoping for! Because of lack of sun I won't get as many as I like but WOW what a great tasting tomato!
Smaller than a tennis ball, full of flavor that, to me, rivals the best oranges out THERE!
From the pics, one was eaten with a touch of salt, and the other was squeezed for seeds.
Plant is smaller but most important is still potato leaf!
Here's praying I get a few more!

You won’t be disappointed. These are absolutely delicious and perfect for smaller areas as they plants don’t get overly big.

Still interested in your progress on one of my favorite tomatoes. I'm growing out lots of my older seeds this year so I'll catch up with you on your offer for next year. Psyched to have an op alternative! Keep up on the project !

To get that first potato leaf, and only one, to now all PL, is interesting.

I don’t know of any round, PL, Orange, that look or taste like it. Definitely a strong KBX fruity flavor.

I’ll have more seeds next year. Reach out and I’ll get them to you.

From the pics and description you have posted, it looks a lot like a PL Orange Jubilee. OJ fruit are about that size (maybe a bit bigger) and also is a "sweet" tomato. It is likewise a modest-sized IND plant. But I have never seen/heard of a PL OJ. What are the brown specs in your pics? Just over ripe?

I grew an F3 Orange Slice a few years ago. All were PL and did well -- with nice sweet taste, but they were large/squarish, and not shaped like the F1 hybrid.
