Columbianum

Hey guys,

I got free seeds for these from a seed vendor I use in Belgium. I'm planning to cross a few things for a bit of fun so I'd be interested to know if anyone has any more details on the Tomato and if it has the same disease resistance as other wild forms (and can I actually cross it..)

I've tried googling but haven't come up with much, any input is appreciated.

1 or 2 years ago I grew Wildtomate Columbianum, could it be that one you are asking about?It turns out with lots of small red tomatoes, and as the wildforms giving lots of them.I love the smaller tomatoes anf grow some every year, new ones for me almost every year.

Thanks your reply, sounds about right..currant sized. I just found it interesting that I couldn't see any info out there for them. They didn't actually get sowed this year so I'll give them a go next.

hmmm the one I grew was dark yellow, oval and very multiflora

The pictures on the site say it's a red fruited currant tomato with 10 gram fruit. Looks similar to asmx91. Maybe you grew Sarah's Galapagos? What were they like asmx91?

I found this:

Massive tresses of medium-small, red cherry tomatoes ripen in clusters of 20 or more. Fruit have good rich flavor, and ability to hold on the plant. Originating wild in Colombia. Some sources say this variety may be a separate species, Lycopersicon columbianum, however we believe it is a semiwild member of the common tomato species Lycopersicon esculentum, aka., Solanum lycopersicum. Therefore, we use Columbianum Wildform as the variety name. Originally given to The Seed Ambassadors Project in 2007 by tomato seed collector Gerhard Bohl when we visited him in Germany.
