Quagga Quagga
Folks, I am growing Quagga Quagga this year from seed that Tom Wagner sent me a few years ago.
I suppose this is the F2 version. Are there later versions that are stabilized? I am looking forward to the fruits, but don't want to save seed from an F2. |

Folks, I am reporting back on Quagga Quagga. I note Tom Wagner's post in 2013: "Quagga Quagga - An F-2 of (Combo Stripe x (Casady's Folly x Green Zebra))."
Color: A lovely yellow and red stripe. Really quite beautiful Taste: A light tomato taste, sweet, quite nice, but nothing of the citrus of GZ. Size: About 3 ounces Texture: A little bit hollow, but with satisfying pulp. Not a stuffer, but not heavy, either. Productivity: A bit on the low side. About 5-6 fruit per plant, compared to 20 from Jaunne Flamme and Black and Brown Boar, for example. Disease: Fairly resistant - showing some septoria now, but already pulling up other varieties such as Red Boar, which went down really fast I see no real reason to grow it again, unless you want a lovely tomato for effect in a salad. |

Unusual coloring, Scott, shame not real tasty compared to others.
