I thought they look like GWRs (right now). I have to say I don't really think they'll be pink, but they could still be red. Looking online though, it seems it should be a 'black' tomato?

I've handled a few packs of seeds, but didn't get around to trialing it. I've seen pics of Rosedale looking like a pink (with maybe faint darkness at the shoulders). And, I've seen pics of what looks like a black tomato. The pinkish one is likely the true variety.

It's quite possible. Not that many gwrs with a pink blush. Cherokee lime also does it but the skin is not as yellow.

It may be a segregant of Rosedale. There was a smaller seg recently named rosebud by Terry of secret seed cartel ( tomatoaddict here).
If you contact Bill Jeffers directly as the breeder he would be the best person to ask if he has seen other gwr segregants from Rosedale KarenO |

Did you only have one rosedale plant? If it's a stray seed [or even a segregant], there should be variation between multiple plants. If it is a mislabel, the obvious first question would be - Where did you get the seeds? |

According to the google spreadsheet, these are some of the following GWRs in the offer: Cherokee Lime, Absinthe, Aunt Ruby's German Green, Malahitovaya Shkatulka, Chile Verde, Green Doctor's, Cherokee Green, Green Giant, Green Gage, Green Zebra. That's hard to say without having a reference color guide next to the item when photographed. The lighting could make something seem light or darker than it really is, especially when we are only talking about a few hues of difference. Last edited by Scooty; August 9, 2021 at 10:59 PM. |
