Lightening Bugs - Friend or Foe?
For some reason this season i'm finding tons of lightening bugs on a bunch of my plants. Are they friend or foe?
Childhood memories makes me feel bad knocking them off my plants, but i don't want them to eat everything. I can't really tell if they're doing any damage either. |

Ooooooh, I like 'em - they eat slugs!! Learn sumpin' new every day.
Growing up with them, I never thought they were "unusual", but we had some friends of ours visit from Colorado, and their two kids had never seen fireflies/lightning bugs. The wonder in their eyes/faces was priceless as they collected them in jars, took them to bed and probably watched them all night! Marvelous how kids can re-open our eyes to the wonders of nature that we've become so accustomed to. |
