Today's Picks (pics)

My little garden is really putting out the big maters now. I just came back in after picking only the fully ripe ones. Here is what I picked from left to right, starting at the top.

Granny Cantrell's German Red x 3
Delicious
Big Red x 2
Brandywine Sudduth's x 2
Golden Queen USDA Strain x 3
Polish C (first one, thanks Bigcheef)
Mortgage Lifter Bi-Color

The plants are looking good. The tallest indeterminate (GCGR) is about 9 feet tall now. The shortest (Berkeley Tie Dye) is right at 7'. The container plants are much smaller. No significant disease problems so far, just a little Early Blight on the lower portions of the plants. The main pest I am dealing with right now is stinkbugs. They seem to like the Clear Pink Early's so well, I am leaving them on the vine. They aren't messing with the other varieties much.

I have not tasted Polish C before or this year's Granny Cantrell's or Delicious so the one I like best of the ones pictured would be Brandywine Sudduth's. It is actually my third choice of all the varieties I am growing this year. My favorite is Earl's Faux, followed by Mortgage Lifter. ML has been good in the past but this year's plant is putting out some very tasty tomatoes with excellent texture. Maybe the drought conditions we had in late May and early June and the semi-drought we are having now is the cause. Fortunately it hasn't been unreasonably hot (low 90's mostly) so I haven't had to water over once every couple of weeks.

you'll like Polish, I'm sure. What's really funny is your stink bug problem. 3 years running they picked one tomato plant and pretty much decimated it, leaving the rest alone. Sounds like yours are the same.

Only problem, they have very good taste and always seem to pick a favorite

First year here they liked my Brandywine.

The next year it was Orange-1

Last year there were none
