Default Why Silvery Fir Tree?

So far the score is Slugs 3, Cecil 0

Why would slugs prefer Silvery Fir Tree to Stupice, Husky Cherry, Sweet Baby Girl and Matina?

They are the 4 with ripe tomatoes and they only eat SFT, in fact anything close to ripe... CHOMP CHOMP. Caught them slime in hand this morning. I have even put sown bait, after the first one; but they still got more.

It takes too much hard work to grow tomatoes for me to be inclined to share w/critters, etc. I would pick anything blushing and let it ripen on the counter....
Along the same note, I have noticed chickens and grasshoppers prefer Slava, but the plant has fruit near the ground and not as nice of leaf cover as I like...
Also only purple eggplant were pecked by chickens...they don't touch the Italian white....And Okra , what a great thing to grow, beautiful and nothing at all eats it in the garden ( or in my family !), but I will continue to badger them with it anyway...
Back to topic, I have never grown Silvery Fir Tree, but hope to get to it after next year...

SFT does have a one-dimensional acidic flavor that some might find boring. But at the beginning of the season, I'm happy to have it while I wait for Gregori's Altai and the rest to kick in.

For some reason, Stupice and Kimberly just don't have that much flavor for me. I tasted Kimberly this weekend and it didn't say "grow me".

"Why Silvery Fir Tree?"

Because they make a good ground cover?

I had four plants that I was going to put into hanging baskets, but ran out of time, so just stuck them in an empty space at the end of the flower bed. They have bushed out their feathery tendrils in every direction and look quite ornamental. I don't care for the taste of the tomatoes either, so now that my mid-seasons have started, I'll just leave red SF's on the vine for added bed color (unless I need extra tom's for a fresh salsa.)

Opposite for me. I just love Stupice, which btw is my heallthiest and most productive plant this season. Just an added bonus, as I love the flavor.

The Mrs. and I love the earliness and taste of SFT ...
I used Bloody Butcher for my early this season, but looks like SFT's coming back for 08 ... Love that "zip" ...

The best reason to grow it is because Carolyn loves it so much! :-) :-) :-)

I planted SF this year it put out a large cluster of tomatoes and succumbed to the plague before all of the tomatoes got ripe.

The ones I did taste were just glorious, some of the best tasting tomatoes I have ever had.
(Almost as flavorful as Yellow Pear).

A very early tomato for me, (It was the earliest one to get pulled up).

It got special treatment. (The retched plant was hauled out of the county and dumped in a shallow grave).

It will be one of the first plants on my list next year.
(The first on my list of tomatoes NOT to grow).

I just cant say enough good about SF.
(That's because I cant think of anything).
