German Johnson, Potato Leaf - What Have I Ordered?

Last year I planted German Johnson, Regular Leaf. It kicked the bucket before I was able to get anything off the plant, so I was planning to plant again this year. Last year, I only had a few seeds that someone had nicely given me, so this year I needed to order seeds.

When I sent in my Tomato Grower's order, I mistakenly ordered German Johnson, Potato Leaf, instead of German Johnson, Regular Leaf. I did not catch my mistake until after the order came back in and I looked at the seed envelope. My mistake, so now what do I have? Has anyone grown the Potato Leaf version and if so, how would you rate it? Has anyone grown both?

Okay, this in no way will answer your question, but ...

I ordered some seeds from C. Wyatt's heirloom seed company labeled "GJPL" because 1, the were only 50 cents, and 2, because I wondered if they were Germ. Johnson PL.

Well, as they are developing their first true leaves this week, they really don't look PL like their companions in the starter tray like Brandywines, Brandy Boy, Bloody Butcher, and others.

Oh well, I got a bargain.

As you know, GJ is RL.

I have wondered what the PL version really is and I don't know the answer and have never asked Linda at TGS about it b'c it isn't a variety I've wanted to grow.

My thoughts run to another goof by Seeds by Design in CA or another supplier.

I know folks have grown it, but I don't remember what was said.

Just as with Red Brandywine PL, which is wrong, if I wanted to know I had true GJ I'd grow only the RL true version.

Not much help I know.
