Micahel - of course, it was my fault here. I'm correcting it now to the right name - Arkticheskaya Vishnya.
Matereater, this is a 3 l jar with our favorite campot from the local red/purple grapes called Isabella. This variety is very hardy and tastes well. Almost all our neighboors grow it and we are as well. Look, this is our 15 y.o. Isabella

Your garden is so beautiful. I can't imagine having such good dirt. Those cabbage are huge!!
Do you leave your squash to frost then pick them up? |

Thanks, Rena.
This black dirt is there due to annual manure and compost adding during last 18 years Parents of my wife started to cultivate this piece of the land made of sand and forest ground in the late 1980s when they were honored to rent this land. But we are still can't buy even a very small piece of land in our country unfortunately... Squshes are very tender to frost and should be picked up strictly before your usual first frost date!

wow...amazing stuff, andrey. thanks for the peek into your garden!
now...isabella grapes... correct me if i'm wrong...but they're called concords in north america and are native to there. i think i found this out when i was desperately trying to get my hands on a concord grape vine here in perth. still no luck...but there are the odd 'isabella' out there...and i'm hoping to snag one! |

Tessa, I'm not sure about Isabella=Concord. Isabella is our local name from Soviet Union times...
Dcarch, this bomb is a gasoline (kerosin) tank of Soviet Navy plane and we are using it as a washbowl My wife's father was a Navy technician (engineer) for the Soviet Army as well as the most of our neigboors. So our garden community is full of such old tanks from Soviet Army planes. People are usually use them as a capacity for water storage and as a part of washbowl or shower system

Malakhitovaya Shkatulka, Sakharnyi Bizon, Oziris and Mazarini were the best tasting. Plus Orange-1, Boloto, Izumrudnoe Yabloko and Orangevyi Gigant - from non-posted but also grown this year.

Thanks, Melissa! That is probably because we love our land and grow vegetables not only for fun but for food mainly! So if we have no good soil and don't work hard there will be no good harvest and winter-spring time without vitamins...
