To plant or not to plant
Happy Wednesday everyone,
O.K. I have started several tomato seeds and thanks to this forum I have been verry successful! I did however set my babies out on my deck to enjoy the sunshine about two weeks ago and forgot to set them back in when I went to work. I burnt the leaves off of a few babies and brought them back in hoping they would bounce back. I have lovely green healthy stems now. Do I go ahead and plant them in the garden???? I hate to discard them if there is a chance they will sprout new leaves. I have plenty of thriving babies but I just hate to call it quits on my stems. Has anyone had any luck with this type of situation?? Angela |

Angela,
If you kept the seedlings inside after the incident, I'd suggest you harden them off before planting in the garden. They have a very good chance of recovering, as long as the growing tip was not damaged - but it may take some time.

If you have no leaves at all, I'm not sure how the plants would recover from that.

A friend burned the leaves off a pair of Fourth of July plants last year and they came back to produce.
Go for it!

As long as it is just the leaves and not any growing tips they will pop out of it.
This has happened to me many times from a cat or whatever and I cant tell to difference now. They will even come out at the crotch of the embryonic leaves if left alone. No worries. Worth |
