How are things going so far ?

I hope I don't jinx myself but things are looking real good at the moment. All plants are producing flowers and I saw my first tomato, a Stupice, yesterday. I also have a Italian Purple that has a small tom on it

So far, this is what has impressed me:

Italian Purple - Looks like it's going to be a BIG plant. Has two groups of flowers with about six flowers each.

Mexico - First time with this one and again, it probably my biggest plant.

Tom's Yellow Wonder - I've never seen a flower 'stand up' like the one I have. Almost like a sunflower. It's in a group of five but one looks to be stretching it's neck up.

Black Mountain Pink - HUGE flower on it. Hope it means a big tomato!

KBX - Looks great and healthy

Anna Russian - Producing ALOT of flowers early on. This is good news because I loved the flavor so much last year but was not a big producer.

Aunt Gerdie's Gold -thank goodness. I love this one
1884 Purple - looking foward to this one too.
Purploe Haze went in a week later but has some buds

Maybe looking to give them a little fungus spray this week as a preventative but they're doing so well I don't want to disturb them!!

Sounds good. I am growing some of the same varieties as you. Keep us posted. When did you put your plants in the ground. I am in KY and put most of mine in about 2 weeks ago; most plants look real good bu no blooms yet.

ky, a little over three weeks ago. Round about the 15th or so. Pinched all the blossoms off but like I said, things are moving nicely.

Do you pick blossom off of plants in the ground? I was thinking about doing that, but read in another thread that it should be done if the plants are in seedling containers and does not help if they are already in the ground.

Started my seeds the 2nd week of March. I noticed today I have blossoms on my black cherry. I just hope the weather warms up soon, I'd like to get them in the ground some time this month!!

Most of my plants are right on schedule. I didn't use Miracle Grow this year and notice a huge difference. I used Sun-Gro and all of the plants are much smaller than I am used to at this time of year. However, with that being said perhaps the root development is better so it might be okay.

One problem I have is all of my cherry tomatoes are doing very poorly! I can't understand that at all. Sungold, Golden Nugget and Black Cherry are extremely stunted and look pathetic. They all come from fresh seeds and I just don't get it. Since I grow Sungold special for a couple of people I am really embarassed by their size. I personally don't care for Sungold anymore. I liked it at first, but now find it too sweet. Everything has been planted in the same medium, so I am really perplexed as to why only the cherries are suffering. I kind of laughed and blamed my buddy Pat (who hates cherries!) that he may have peed on them when I wasn't looking!

Two weeks until planting time.

kygreg, I put my plants in on April 12th, after checking the forcast I thought I was fine. A couple days before last frost.
Yes, I pinched the flowers, if any when they went in. So I guess five weeks isn't bad to get flowers. Stupice is early so I guess it pumps them out as soon as possible. I'm going away this weekend so I hope I come home to more
