Default Can I replant a tomato plant-----

I bought some small tomato plants and planted them in large containers, 3 weeks ago. Because of the bad weather, the bottom branches all got yellow and I snipped them off. Now we have plants that have very long bottom stems and I was wondering if it would not be prudent to dig a deeper whole in the container and deepen the plants?

Yeah, it could be done. Very carefully though.

I would leave 'em. After 3 weeks, you might have a good root system in the pot that would not be beneficial to disturb.

Yeah, I think you'd probably be better off leaving them. Better to be safe than sorry. But I am a perfectionist about some things, which causes me to do things that are unnecessary to make me feel satisfied. So I can relate to your wanting to replant them.

Yeah, I understood that you were considering planting in the same container, but either way you face the same potential hazards.

When in pots, I set my seedlings in as deep as they can go then only fill the pot half full: as the season progresses, and they get taller, I back-fill the pots so they grow roots lower on the stem, and add to their strength" for wind.

I would re-pot them ... tomatoes are like weeds ...
