Another corn question.

I bought 18 corn plants today and they came grown in bunches of three plants.I Can't grow them like that can i?I Don't see how i could possibly seperate three plants tha are getting root bound in tiny flats.The plants are about 10 inches tall.

If i do have to seperate them how can i possibly do it without killing them.

Unfortunately when I get stuff like that just to be on the safe side I just save the best one and cut the others at soil level. Believe me I tried that with peppers and the like and the roots are really tangled.

Errr,That would mean i will end up with 6 plants out of my 12!That's a bummer.

Corn is often grown in hills, with three plants per hill. Using that method, you can leave each group of three seedlings together in a bunch just the way you got them. Space the hills at least three feet apart.

Unfortunately i have no garden,just two big rubbermade totes.I could have fit then in there in double rows,but no way with hills.
