The First Tomato Sandwich - The Third Best
The third best experience in life and it happens more often!!!
Haven't had this experience in 10 months. This time it was Freihofers potato bread, Hellmans, 2 Bloody Butchers, and a little salt and pepper. So close to heaven I wish I had more! |

I had a Silvery Fir Tree sammie, but the 'mater wasn't the best. First ones usually don't pack the wallop (I'm still talking about 'maters now...get your mind out of the gutter!). I have a Brandywine Sudduth almost ripe. First biggie of the year. Couple more days. Can't wait!

no sandwiches yet but i have eaten about 12 sun golds. they are tasting better now than the 1st 4 or 5.

Sungolds have been good for a couple of weeks now. Also
Enjoyed a big Pruden's Purple & had a Tom's Yellow Wonder. PP & TYW were 12 & 13 oz. Pruden's Purple , in my estimation had a lot more flavor.

First BLTs of the season last night. Homemade spelt bread (toasted), Hellman's mayo, thick cut, crispy bacon, thick cut tomato (CP and Sioux) and lettuce. Sandwich about as tall as it is wide. Requisite juices dripping onto the plate. Wonderful.

We had Black From Tula and Cherokee Purple BLT's for dinner. Thick sliced cracked pepper bacon, crisp lettuce, toasted potato bread, a touch of mayo, and slices of those amazing black tomatoes piled on. Fantastic. Four adults and three boys went through about a dozen sandwiches. One of my absolute favorite foods on earth.
