Tomatofest and own tomato tasting
Hi everyone,
I so seldom post but decided that I should say hi once in a while. Just wanted to let everyone know how my tomato growing has been this year. It's not been my best year because of weather conditions and disease (more than I've ever had). But I managed to pull in some pretty decent amount of tomatoes. Of the 32 varieties I grew, I really liked most of them with my favorites being JD's Special C-Tex, Virginia Sweets, Indian Stripe, Green Giant and Little Lucky. The ones that didn't do well for me were German Red Strawberry, Lucky Cross, Grape, Grub's Mystery Green (which was a bummer cuz I really wanted to try this one). But I did manage to get to taste a BUNCH of tomatoes at Tomatofest and liked several there that I'm thinking of trying--Chocolate Stripes, Mandarin Cross, Chinese Tea, Cindy's West Virginia, Marizol Gold, Blue Ridge Mountain, and Lahman Pink. Does anyone have experience growing these varieties and what did you think of them? Oh, my DH and I blogged about our experience at tomatofest so if anyone is interested, here is the link: http://chezannies.blogspot.com/2008/...omatofest.html We also blogged about our own "mini" tomato tasting in our home last weekend. We've got photos of most of the tomatoes we grew so do take a look: http://chezannies.blogspot.com/2008/...-house-of.html Thank you very much to those of you who have traded and shared seeds with me. Some of these have become my favorites over the years. If any of the varieties I've talked about are interesting to you, do pm me and I'll see if I have them saved. Cheers, Annie |
